not again...

Well...we sort of hoped we were done with all of this but when we awoke this morning, it was a winter/spring wonderland!! It's so weird to be downloading these photos from my camera into my computer's "April" photo folder!!
Oh bother! Hang in there, trees!!!

Iceburg Ahead!

We spent part of the day yesterday at a Titanic artifact exhibit at Flatirons. So interesting and lots of facts about the ship and the passengers. We each got a ticket with the name of an actual passenger & then got to check the manifest at the end to discover 'our' fate. All but Bob's passenger (and the poor guy's whole family) survived. 4 out of five--not bad.
Here we are in front of the Grand Staircase...

B.O.B.

Emma's school just had a "Battle of the Books" competition today and her team won!! All the kids in the club had to read 4 novels over the course of the year and formulate questions to be used in the final game show-style event held today for 4th graders. Each of two teams was asked questions & received points for correct answers & her team had 10 more points than the the other team...a close competition! The fifth grade teams compete at the district level next week but fourth graders enjoyed their competition...and their winning trophies at school. Emma is so excited to have her first trophy! A fun event & a good way to put that fabulous book-worm talent to work!!!
The Teams
Emma's team frantically deliberating before announcing their answer The The scorekeeper announcing that Emma's team finished with 100 points--10 points more than the other team...(hard to hear but no mistaking the result!)

Party on

Whew--what a whirlwind day of partying--man am I worn out!!

First we had Sophie's 7th birthday party for the family this morning...complete with a waffle bar(we caved in and bought one of those hotel-style belgian waffle makers)--Sophie has good taste!!

Then we had her 'friend party' this afternoon. 9 seven year olds. Need I say more?!? Actually it was lots of fun--decorating cookies shaped like ballgowns, pinata, and painting suncatchers...oh, and lots of running around and giggling!
Serious business decorating cookies...

Spoke too soon...

After my last post, the snow picked up a bit and as of now, we have about 5 inches...enough to shovel...and enough to make a couple of snowmen.
Excuse me...snowladies.
Big flakes starting up again...

Don't Believe Everything You Hear on The News

Here's what the big spring storm looks like at our house. Mostly just rain...then big giant snowflakes...then both at once...and then nothing! The clouds can't decide...it's winter...no, it's spring--it's winter...no, it's spring. One thing's for sure...
Wet + Cold = Brrrrrrrrrr! I just can't get warm!! Supposed to get heavier snow overnight but so far...so good. Famous last words...?

Karate Master

Julia's karate graduation was tonight. We got to see everything they learned and she received a certificate and a medal (for earning extra stripes on her belt for good behavior)...she was over the moon!

Sun and Moon

Julia was busy in the kitchen...rustling papers, stapling, writing...busy busy. She just finished & showed me the 'book' she put together. She had one of these lines on each page of her book--with a picture for each page...I thought it was sort of poetic...
----------
The moon is cold
The sun is hot
The sun is morning
The moon is night
Sun
Moon
----------
I like it!

Happy Easter!

Off to church this morning...we love getting gussied up for Easter!

Easter Goodies & Birthday Wishes

After church, we went to Steve's for Easter lunch/birthday party for Karen. Philip brought all kinds of fun goodies from Iceland and the girls enjoyed hiding eggs for grandpa & Uncle Phil & Uncle Steve. Karen's going skiing for her actual birthday day tomorrow...stretching the celebration as long as possible...my kind of partier!! Happy Birthday!!!!!!

Hunting...hunting...

To finish off the day, we went to Linda & Charlie's annual Easter Eggstravaganza. We look forward to going to their house & hunting for eggs every year. It rained a bit during the hunt and was pretty chilly but spirits were high and baskets were filled...to the brim!! So fun!
Ready...set...GO!

Look at the treasures Sophie found in her eggs!

Happy Birthday to the April birthdays...Rosie, Pam, Sophie & Avery

Ice Skating

Steve suggested that we all go ice skating today and Julia thought that was a great idea to make visiting Uncle Phil feel at home since he's living in ICEland now.
Sophie is big enough to wear Emma's old skates & thought that since she had the fancy skates...she'd go with the fancy outfit too...

Emma & Phil had fun playing an imaginary hockey game and rookies Sophie & Julia were really getting the hang of it by the end of the session...thanks to the steady training hands of Steve, Karen & Philip!

I Can Hear It Now...

"Back in our day we didn't have none of them fancy schmancy baby dolls...we just drew baby faces on our feet and made do with what we had..."

Back in my day, we just dressed rocks in onesies and we were perfectly happy. What is wrong with kids today?!? : )
