meet you at the cc

Today we got to memorialize the graduations of Susan & Karen (& Emma) with brunch. The weather was cool and lovely, the food bountiful and delicioius and the company warm and engaging. A great way to celebrate!

Shy

Since Thursday is the girls' last day of school, they have been bringing home piles of old schoolwork every day this week.

I found this in Sophie's writing notebook. As a lifetime member of "Shy R Us" I can confirm she hit the nail right on the head!!

Shy

Shy is gray.
It smells like rain.
It looks like night.
It tastes like dirt.
It sounds like nobody talking.
Shy feels like goose bumps.

Yep.

cast your vote

Our young Emma is facing the very serious dilemma we ladies all face at one time or another. Which dress to wear!!!???!!!

She's having her fifth grade continuation ceremony next week and can't decide what to wear. I thought, "Aha--maybe the five people who read my blog could check out her choices and cast their vote!" She'd be ever so grateful!! Watch my blog next week to see the result of your online votes...gee it's just like Dancing With the Stars!!

So how 'bout it?!?

Field Day

Bridging

Last night Sophie & Julia had a ceremony and celebration to 'bridge' from Daisy Girl Scouts to Brownies.

Sophie's pretty much over Girl Scouts & was a little worried that bridging meant that she'd HAVE to be a Brownie. She was happy to hear it just meant she graduated. Julia still wants to be a Brownie though so save your cookie orders for her come January next year!!
I know there's a box of Thin Mints with your name on it!! : )

mother's day

I got this neat garden balancer for Mother's Day--thanks for the great idea, bro!!!
: )
It is really mesmerizing & I love watching my new garden angel spin & balance in the wind!! Every garden should have one!!

Carnival!

The girls' school had a first-ever carnival on Friday night. Despite the chilly temperature, we had a fun time playing games, sliding down the giant slide, face painting, popcorn, cake walk, dunk tank and just all kinds of carnival fun!
Wheeeee

Here's Emma trying to dunk her teacher in the dunk tank. (I questioned the wisdom of participating in this event since report cards haven't come out yet, but her teacher said she's safe since she missed the target & he stayed dry...while she was throwing the ball anyway)

First Communion

Sophie had her first communion at church today. She was nervous but excited to be able to dress up & have a special day!
