Math Sucks

Sorry. It had to be said. This was an addition problem on Emma's math homework last night.
I actually figured this one out all by myself. Believe it or not!!! Go for it!
(you're supposed to be able to add YOU + YOU + YOU to get the answer U U U)

Y O U
Y O U
Y O U
-------
U U U

Y, O & U are three different numbers. What is the number Y O U?

Mwaaaaahahahaaaa!!!!

Are you smarter than a 6th grader?

We are all stuck on one of Emma's math homework problems...you give it a go...if you dare...

#33. An 8th grade math test included this rather tough challenge. Can you solve it?

If 5 x 3 = 4
2 x 8 = 2
and 6 x 3 = 3,
find the value
of 1 x 7

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!!!!!
I told her to write: "I'll let you know when I'm in 8th grade."

Stock Show

Introducing...Mack

Yesterday this 2-year old yellow lab, Max, lived at the Boulder Humane Society.
Now he lives at our house. And his name is Mack.

We toiled and discussed and surfed the web for great dog names.
Finley, Angus, Jasper, Boone, Ling (Julia's contribution due to her love for everything Chinese) but in the end, we realized that he knows his name from his former life...a lot. We didn't like "Max" so much so we changed it up a bit (in a sort of nod to the late great Mac the Cat) and decided on "Mack". Sounds close enough to the name he knows that he still comes when we call.

He seems like a really great dog--already knows sit and shake and caught on to heel quickly. He's calm (which we love), smart, quiet, playful and loves the girls (and our cat Charlie) already.

He's slightly overweight at the moment so we took him out to the lake today to start his new exercise regime (along with a trip to PetSmart for some "lite" biscuits and diet dog food).
It's nice to have a dog around the house again...so far so good!
