farewell summer!

On the last day of summer vacation today, we declared that we weren't going to mope around & complain or sit around and be nervous about school.  We decided to head out and find some adventure at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs.  And what a day of adventure it was!

Bird is the word...

Some creatures in the animal kingdom I just wouldn't want to meet in a dark alley...

 ...but others would be just fine

summer stuff

Sophie had some teeth pulled today so it was a nice evening to relax & recuperate & hang around the yard before school starts.  
                                          Beet!

 Trying to think of how I can varnish these beet stems...and make something out of them...they're too Christmas'y to ignore!
