Never Hurts to Ask...

If you do that sort of thing, please send a couple extra prayers up for my sweet mother-in-law, Grandma Bonnie. She went to the doctor today and discovered she has bilateral pneumonia & is pretty miserable--trying to fend off dehydration while battling lungs that would rather misbehave.

Nice people should get some sort of exemption from illnesses that make them feel so bad!!! Guess it doesn't work that way, but wouldn't it be a great incentive?!

Where does the time go?!

This morning before we pick Sophie up from school, I have to go register Julia for Kindergarten next year. So strange! She can't wait to go to the 'big school' and ride the bus with her sisters every morning. Now I'll have to figure out what I'll do to pass the time while they're all gone. Guess I'll have to get a 'real job.'

Oh ick. There goes the charmed life I've known.

On that note, I am thinking seriously about quitting my night job. My hours are supposed to be 9pm-1am but since losing our supervisor a few weeks ago, and management not hiring another one...and not wanting to stay so late, they've been asking us to come in 6-10:00. That doesn't work at all for me now that Bob has baseball after school. Working until 1:00 is no picnic but it's irritating that the managers expect us to rearrange our lives to fit into theirs. Rant rant.
So I have a secret boycott and tell them I'll come in as soon as Bob gets home but I sort of stroll in whenever I end up getting there--no big hurry. That's no good either because then I don't get all the hours I need & it hardly makes it worth it to drive the 20 minutes it takes to get there.

Yah, definitely quitting. And soon.

Valentine's Dance

The girls' school had a Valentine's dance tonight. I had a good time cramping Emma's style doing the Hand Jive, YMCA & Macarena. They all got in line behind me though when it was time for the Bunny Hop. I must say, they were impressed that I knew those dances until that new Superman dance came on--then I (and all the other parents) became a wallflower. Julia was really into it, dancing with Emma and her friends & Sophie & her friends mostly just played chase--as Kindergartners are prone to do.

100's day

I was lucky to have Susan come watch Julia so I could sneak away and go help at Sophie's Valentines Day/100th Day of School Party. Her teacher made each kid a t-shirt that says '100th day of Kindergarten-Mrs. Good's Friends' & they all wore them today. There was lots of food--mostly healthy--no little ice cream cups with wooden stick spoons like in the good old days. Then they made Valentine's bookmarks & decorated heart cookies before sitting all together on the floor to open Valentines. It all went very smoothly & was pretty low-key--not like how I remember school Valentines parties--but there was no CSAP back then either. Fun day!

Kelly only tried to eat Susan while I was in the room--as soon as I left the room, Kelly was snuggled in Susan's lap. Same thing happened at the vet & the kennel. Hmmmm--I must be HER human and everyone better watch out when she's watching out for me & mine.
Note to self: Google how to fix that.

Walking the Dog

Emma had a big sleepover birthday party at a friend's house yesterday, so we took the little girls out for a long walk with the dog. Finally a day with less wind--and almost 50 degrees--felt so good to be out in the fresh air!




It was another nice day today--Julia had a birthday party for her friend, Autumn, at the rec center--a swimming pool party, but Emma was too tired from going to bed at 2:45--am--to go for a walk. So we mostly just napped while Bob was with Julia. Well, I mostly just napped after dragging Emma & Sophie shopping at Penneys (I found 3 dresses for .97 cents each!!!) We were all a bit frazzled!

"Our First Program"

Sophie's Kindergarten class joined with all the other Kindergarten classes for their first musical performance this morning. It was a packed house. They sang fun songs that included choreography and audience participation. Sophie was doing all the actions enthusiastically and seemed to be having a wonderful time! I tried to take video for those who couldn't attend, but Julia was on my lap so take your Dramamine before you watch. You've been warned...

They sang TONS of songs & did a couple of dances & each class recited a poem...very cute!! Here was the line up:
