Emma and Sophie both had their continuation ceremonies today. Sniffle sniff. For those of you keeping score, that means Emma will be in high school next year, Sophie will be in middle school, and Julia will be in elementary school. That also means that I'll be pulling my hair out trying to keep track of their shenanigans on 3 different levels. This could get good.
Sophie is looking forward to middle school...tired of all the elementary hoo-haw (I'm thinking that tells me we haven't properly made her aware of the upcoming middle school Super-hoo-haw). Oh dear.
Emma is excited for high school but she's lamenting the fact that many of her friends have choiced into the STEM program at a neighboring high school & won't be attending with her (in her school's Honors Humanities program...tsk, tsk). That would have been tragic back in my day, but in today's world, she can keep track of all of them with the facebook and the texting. Problem solved!
Both gals did great & did me proud at their awards ceremonies. Emma earned the Presidential Award for Academic Excellence (that's straight A's all three years in middle school...what the what?!), and Sophie earned the Presidential Award for Academic Achievement (3.5-3.8 GPA for the year...BAM).
Please excuse my braggity-bragging but I'm one proud Mama! Way to go, girls!!

math does count
Julia was invited to be in her school's first MathCounts competition this morning...a friendly little match between our school and neighboring school. However "friendly" math games can be, that is. Parents weren't allowed to watch (which is good because I remember when Emma was in the middle school MathCounts thing, I felt like crying the entire time....just hearing the questions!!) So we showed up at the end for the awards. Ain't nuthin' math-y about awards...just a bunch of clapping...right up my alley!
She did great and said she mostly had a good time being the only girl on her team of four kids.
