First Annual Camp-Out
Bob's cousins decided that a summertime family camp-out was in order. So they gathered their whole clans and included us cousins for some fun of the highest order! We set up tents and BBQ'd dinner before the kids jumped on the jumpy castle, assembled crafts, played whiffle ball and had water fights with each other. The evening was topped off by an outdoor after-dark showing of Toy Story 3 on the side of the house...complete with popcorn from the popcorn machine.
The weather was warm and dry--perfect for sleeping out under the stars with some really wonderful families!

bike
The big plan was to get Julia a new bike for her 8th birthday in August. But on yesterday's bike ride, this happened to her tire:

So Bob had Sophie and Emma ride home and deliver the message that Julia would be needing some roadside assistance (aka...me and the van) to bring her and her exploded tire home.
We figured that replacing the tires on her almost-too-small-old-bike would not be too cost effective, so we just had her birthday a little early so she wouldn't be bikeless all summer! Woohoo!

And of course we had to take her out on her maiden voyage after hula lessons this evening.

Denver Zoo
Mom and Dad had guest passes so they took us to the zoo today. It was a bit hot and there were lots of pregnant ladies (Sophie counted 20). I bet the pregnant ladies thought it felt more than just a 'bit' hot...but I digress.
There were lots of baby animals to keep us entertained...including Dahl's sheep, orangutan and other miscellaneous monkeys. It was a good day!

awwwwwwwww!

Smile for the camera, Dolly!

One of these things is not (exactly) like the others...

-Filet Mignon
-German Chocolate Cake
-Fire Extinguisher
The presence of those things all at once only means one thing at our house. It must be a birthday!!! Bob's birthday, to be exact!

A bunch of us went in on a new iPod Touch for him since he needs portable music to do a dance unit at his new school next year (a good excuse, anyway).
He not only scored a new toy...but a few new bestest friends too!
