Everyone think spelly thoughts!! Tonight is the big district spelling bee for Emma!!! I'll let you know how it goes!!!

Thursday Update:
Wow! What a tremendous job Emma did! After the written portion of the bee, they posted 28 names of kids who made it to the oral round...then they announced the names of 9 kids who had to be in a "spell-off" for the final two spots. Emma's name was called for that. So she went to test again and was gone for what seemed like FOREVER. Finally she came back in feeling confident...checking the spelling of 'lieutenant' and 'renaissance' with me (and happy she spelled them right). But in the end, they posted the final two names and she was not one of them. She was pretty bummed out but managed to see the light over a double scoop of 'love potion' ice cream at Baskin Robbins.

We think she did an awesome job...the other kids from her school also didn't make it to the oral round (did I mention that the 'jungle' girl who came in second at the school bee was there...thanks to her psycho-mom...but she didn't even make the first cut) and there were 8th graders competing!!

Oh well!! Better luck next year!!
